Doug on Doug:
I was born in California, in Newport Beach. I grew up in the SF Bay area, in Northern California. One big year in my life was my senior year of High School. I spent that year in Minden, Germany as an exchange student. (Class of '85).
I’ve been in radio since 1988, with many stations including KSOL (where I was Doug EE Fresh the traffic rapper) 6 years as "Jungle Doug" on KRTY/Country in San Jose, and 3 years on the syndicated "Doug & Connie / Doug & Karla" morning show. I also worked with our Christian music channels on XM Satellite Radio.
One fun part of the show is when I get to bark up Kim’s tree about the superiority of the canine over the feline when it comes to the best pet. Dogs really are better than cats. As one caller put it – “Dogs have family, cats have staff.” We have a wonderful beagle-mix named Shelby.
We love to read all the emails we receive, but there are times when people forward emails that are a hoax. Here’s some helpful web sites to visit so that you don’t pass on emails that are not truthful : http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org http://urbanlegends.about.com And there is no petition to remove Christian Radio - http://www.fcc.gov/mb/enf/forms/rm-2493.html
Speaking of web sites - one of my favorite web sites is www.GetKimHitched.com - the staff there is wonderful and really committed to their goals. Please check it out.
My favorite holiday movie is “Young Frankenstein”. (Honestly!) That’s what my mom and I use to watch each Christmas. “What hump?”
I actually met my wife Sheryl through KRTY (although she'll tell you that she was not a "groupie"). She just wanted to see the “face behind the voice” .. and after she got the scary part over – we got married. (There is really a lot more to it but we’ll share that for the next marriage retreat.) Sheryl is truly the back bone of the family – because she does so much behind the scenes - I can try to go to bed each night at 8. (That 3am wake up call comes much too early) My oldest daughter - Lauren is now a Freshman in College & Garic ("Babyman" - the only non-Californian) was born in Franklin TN in 1998. Garic is in 2nd grade.
My favorite verse is Phil. 4:6-7 which in the “Message” reads “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

Kim on Kim:
I was born in Santa Fe, N.M. and stayed there through high school. The Southwest is a very raw and beautiful part of the world. We lived close to the ski basin and that made for some great memories year round. I enjoyed Fall hikes to see the leaves change and great snowball fights after the first snow. I loved going on picnics with my family. I also enjoyed great talks with my Dad when he would take me fishing. As a child and through my high school years I enjoyed our church youth group, singing and drama. (both on and off the stage....I was a teenager.) I graduated from High School in 1986- a true 80’s girl with big bangs and leg warmers.
Radio was not “my” original plan. As a single mom with two small children I worked through college and was asked to be a guest on our university’s radio station. It only took one time and I was hooked on radio and knew it was something I really wanted to do as a “hobby.” I went on to complete my Bachelors Degree in Psychology thinking I would become a counselor. God had other plans!
I have been in radio since 1994, with previous stations including my college station- Wayland's KWLD- Plainview, TX. My first morning co-hosting job was in South Dakota -Rapid City's KSLT. I moved back to Texas and worked the weekends for Free 107 in Lubbock. God moved me to Nashville and I worked for WAY-FM. I also spent some time with Salem's XM station - The Fish.
Over the past 4 years I have enjoyed many things about our morning show- our Christmas Novelty Song contest, Love on Your Kid's Friday, talking with an Irish accent the entire show on St. Patrick's day (Doug tried, but he just couldn't leave his beloved German behind)and talking with you the listener. The stories you have shared have made us feel like we are a part of your family. THANK YOU! I continue to enjoy keeping Doug in line with an occasional “Douglas!!!” or “Listen here Mister!” He is a great friend and I thank God for how He has allowed us to grow together as a team. I'm still waiting to get used to that 3a.m. alarm clock.
My favorite movie is and will always be "It's a Wonderful Life." Life can be so hard. I think there are times when we hit that bump in the road and we forget that God has us here for a unique purpose. This little movie has been a sweet reminder to me and so many others that this world would be a less pleasant place without you and me in it. That may seem a little "sweet" but I think we need a little more sweet in our lives. I would love to watch the movie year round but my girls don’t let me pull it until Thanksgiving at the earliest.
My oldest daughter-Lauren is entering her Freshman year at college and my youngest daughter- Alexia is moving into her Junior year in High School. Both of them are the joy of my life! I could not have accomplished much of what I have become with out there sweet strength and encouragement. They are two of the coolest people I have ever known.
My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11. My sweet mother taught me this verse when I was a child and sense then it has been my sweet reminder that there is light at the end of the tunnel for you and for me. The verse says “I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” He has done that and continues to do that. I am grateful........and still a work in progress.
